Ode to Michael Jackson: The King of Pop
You electrified us with Thriller
Beat It was killer
Billie Jean and the moonwalk
WOW – what a winner!
You encouraged us
to look into the mirror
inspired us to change our ways
to make the world a better place
now and for the rest of our days
You rocked our world
you helped heal the world
back in the day
you were BAD!
we rocked with you
but, you couldn’t heal your own pain
now, you’re gone too soon
How sad…
Why? Why?
tell them that it’s human nature
life on earth was rough
but, you are not alone
just look over your shoulder, Michael
God will be there day and night
it don’t matter if you’re black or white
I hope you’ll wanna be startin’ somethin’
in the clouds up above
don’t stop singing, dancing
and waving your sequin glove
’til you get enough
of what you gave the world:
LOVE.
Thanks for the magic, moonwalk
and the music, Michael
even though you’re out of our lives
and, it cuts like a knife
you will always be on top –
your music is sublime
got to be there
now and forever
in peace as you rest
We are the world
that just can’t stop loving you
because
we remember the time
and
we will never forget
the way you make us feel
We will dearly miss
The King of Pop –
simply the BEST!

Hi Dr. Erica,
Thank you for visiting my blog and commenting on my tribute poem to Michale Jackson. Thanks for saying he would have loved it. It would be a dream if his family (particularly Janet) could read it. I am familiar with Siedah Garrett. I hadn’t thought to send this to her. Thanks for the idea. 🙂 I just followed her on Twitter and sent her a tweet with a link to the poem.
Very nice!
Thanks! 🙂
