At the crack of dawn
I awake
my head is filled with
the sound of your voice
as I remember
the smell of your cologne
the way you walk
all the times we used to talk
about nothing
I could watch the sun set
in your eyes
see my dreams come true
as I think of you
But,
those times are long gone
yet, I still
think of you
as the day begins
and I reflect
on the love I lost
the love that was never meant to be
like the waves of the sea
that don’t come ashore
I can’t feel you anymore
But,
I hear the sound of your voice
I smell your cologne
I see you in my dreams
when I wake…
at the crack of dawn.

A poem from Naked Desires.
i love that line about the waves of the sea that don’t come to shore… when things are so beautiful & feel meant to be but they aren’t. can’t think of a better way to describe it than that!!
Thanks, I’ve written quite a few poems with references to the sea. 🙂
